Don‘t forget to pull off the bottom leaves from your tomato plants. If the bunches are already formed, they‘re not needed anymore – the leaves below bunches don‘t perform their functions anymore. This way you‘ll grow your fruit much faster.
If you grow your cucumbers on one stem, we recommend to leave 3-4 fruit above the 6th or 8th leaf and clamp them together. This way you‘ll be able to adjust the height of the cucumbers and will have a higher yielding harvest.
In case of hot weather, we recommend storing basins with water in the greenhouses. During daytime, the evaporation will create a more suitable atmosphere for your plants.
If you are growing classical tomatoes – large, round – don‘t forget to form bunches. No more than 5-6 of tomatoes per bunch. This way, you‘ll grow high quality fruit and avoid having a deformed harvest.
Warm temperatures have a significant effect on the relative humidity of the air. Don‘t forget to water your vegetables in the morning, however take notice of the surroundings – the soil between vegetable beds and empty land plots which have not yet been planted – those should be watered as well.
Don‘t water your plants in the evening! True summer is yet to come, the days are warm and the nights are still cold. Cold water in cold weathers leads to excess amounts of humidity, which is not good for your plants. The best time for watering is in the morning.
It is best to water your plants once a day, early in the morning, 2-3 hours after sunrise. What‘s interesting is that you can understand the humidity of the soil visually: if you can‘t squash a small piece of soil taken from a depth of 10 centimeters – the plants and ground need watering.
When planting cucumbers, make sure they are distributed evenly. To ensure proper system of roots, see that the seedlings are planted no lower than on the 3rd leaf. We recommend leaving at least 20 centimetre gaps in between the plants, so as to ensure they do not obstruct each other and lead to a proper harvest.
Chances of frosts are finally over, and true spring has finally come. The most patient, who have not yet planted your greenhouses – you may begin now. Now is the best time to plant cucumbers and tomatoes, but ensure a proper density by having only 3-4 herbs per square meter.
Do not forget to air your greenhouse during daytime. The crop is already used to the colder weather, especially those that grow outside and are eagerly waiting for warmer weathers. This way the plants will avoid extra stress due to temperature fluctuations.
